Big Brother got to go Turkey hunting for the first time this past week. Head to toe in camo, he did a pretty good job keeping still. He will be ready to hunt for himself by the time he is old enough.

9.1.11 Little Brother’s Day
Little Brother rolled over and awakened me about 5:45 like normal, already hugging and kissing me and talking a mile a minute. Big Brother remained asleep on the other side Little and I just cuddled. Had to jump up, find camo and hunt with daddy for an hour before getting ready for his first day of pre-school for the year. Little Brother attends the district pre-school 2 days a week for 2 hours a time. He loves his teacher, Mrs. Doyle and has been BEGGING all summer “hen ool?” “go OOL Day?” “ool, ool, I iss ool”. Since our routine route take us by the ‘ool’ a lot it was never far from his mind. Mrs Doyle had ‘onuts’ for the first day and Little was quite pleased. He had a great day at ‘ool’.
Home this afternoon; he got to do outside messy art with Big Brother.
All little boys should be so lucky.

Inaugural Dove Season
Iowa has never had a dove season before 2011. Today was the first opened day of dove season ever in this state and all three of my boys were excited (although, I admit, two did not know why).
The boys got up and dressed in camo and headed out with daddy to hunt, just past sunrise. Both were excited to be part of the excitement. Big Brother actually spent along time hunting, gathering fallen birds and walking; he had no concern or problem handling the dead birds, Little was not quite that sure about them. Time came to clean the birds and Big Brother was right there, lacking strength but not willingness.
Today marked the first time Little Brother got to go hunt with daddy
