Lake Casa Blanca International State Park June 23 2013
Another desert hike. At “the lake”.
This little frog ran fast when we first saw him, but his defense seems to be “play dead” which means we got to look at it for a while.

my planning forms for fall
I have been playing with my planning forms and I have reworked them. I have never found a planner that really worked for me, room for all our subjects, room for both boys and so on. so I made my own in Word. I print them off, and put them in a binder. I love this, because i can change them. Part of the way though a year, if we drop a subject, or add one, i can change the planning page accordingly. This year, i have expanded our planning page to make it legal length (not letter length ; this gives me more room.
This year we will also be doing a cheerful chart with Big Brother; he will get stickers for getting a subject done, and another one for getting it done CHEERFULLY. This will allow him to earn small rewards and give me some addition leverage on dawdling and arguing.

Consider this
Noah Webster was one of the founding voices promoting mass public education.
He has been called the “Father of American Scholarship and Education“
Quoting from How Lincoln Learned to Read:
What made an republic successful, Noah Webster said: “A singular machine ..which takes the child as soon as he can speak, check his natural independence and passions, makes him subordinate to superior age, to the laws of the states…”
