new Advent books for 2012 and my idea for Advent 2013

I love books and I love Advent books.  This is nothing new.

What is new is living in temporary housing while Daddy does a short term work assignment in Georgia.  Everything we own is packed up, in boxes and tubs, in Iowa waiting for us to move to Missouri at the end of February.  We literally brought one Kia load with us here (plus all 4 of us and the dog, so not a lot of stuff).

So this Advent season I have none of our book.   I have been working on our Advent collection for years, this is our 7th year (as Big Brother just turned 7 in November) of adding books to the collection.  Most years I add 4 books (love that amazon.com 3 for the price of 4 deal).  It is getting harder and harder to find really good books that I want to add; since I pull out the entire collection each year, and anything added really needs to stand up in quality.

Having none of our Advent books with us this year I bought a few extra (still love that 4 for the price of 3 deal).

Mortimer’s Christmas Manger

The Last Straw

The Friendly Beasts

The Legend of Old Befana

Saint Nicholas: The Real Story of the Christmas Legend

Santa’s Favorite Story: Santa Tells the Story of the First Christmas

This year I finally added to our collection the Christmas tradition:  How the Grinch Stole Christmas

I did buy one story that we already have (since it is stuck in a box in storage); I could not see having Christmas Eve night without Grandpa reading The Night Before Christmas  I did however get a different version that we already have.

I also bought this collection Advent Storybook: 24 Stories to Share Before Christmasadvent books idea  to use in place of an advent calendar or wreath for this year; it is a beautiful collection of perfect short stories for bedtime.

I am really excited about our new books, I love books.

Next Advent I plan to use books as our Advent calendar
